It's hard to do a "normal blog post", when so many of our friends in the adoption community are struggling to make any sense of this IA nightmare. I feel almost guilty that my child is home with us. I know that if I would have been caught in the situation that many of our friends are in, I would be beyond devestated. I think the word instituitionalized would have rung a bell. But with this, my friends. Please don't give up. I know the fight will be long and emotional, but if you want to have your family together, it'll happen. If you would like to help if any way shape or form,

And with this, I will try to bring a little bit of sunshine to today's post. And a little humour perhaps.
Ruban (our cat) and Eden have a sort of personal relationship. Before Eden, Ruban was our baby. We snuggled him like a baby, carried him around and sang to him like a baby (don't mock me people), I was without child for 7 years! So, when Eden came home I was very nervous, that Ruban would despise her and loathe her very being in this home.
Suprise. He loves her. Maybe he knows his butt would be kicked to the curb if he harmed her in any way, shape or form. He does flips for her on the floor, he rubs on her face, he lets her slap him around a bit (kind of)..until he gets his weird, I'm starting to not like you as much look on his face, and at this time we must remove said baby from the situation before chaos and scratching ensue.
The other day Eden was having lunch and she decided hey, let's toss my food on the floor and see what happens. Ooooo, look, Ruban will come and eat it for me.
End of story. Right. Cute, sweet, oh look at the kitty eating the baby's scraps.
Fastforward one day and one night.
We've had to move the cat food into the laundry room so Eden doesn't play in it and eat it. Apparently, one of us parents left the door ajar to the laundry room. Oops, must have been her dad. And I thought, hmmmm, she's awfully quiet for a baby who talks or bangs things all day long. I peek in and see my daughter stuffing her face with cat food. Hands full of cat food. Cat food in the mouth, slobber dripping out of her mouth as she tries to salivate the cat food to mush. OMG. (sorry, folks no picture of that one) I desperately grab her, open her mouth and do the finger sweep to take the remaining cat food out of her mouth. Oh, disgusting.
In hindsight, quite hilarious. One for the blog I say. At the time, panicky, disgusted and worried she's choking on the cat food. Good thing we buy Purina and not No Name. Much better for the digestive tract.

Oh, that is disgusting!! But HILARIOUS!! Never trust a quiet child...
I'm with you on the 'normal' blog posts. But I am concluding that if any IA families are too distressed, they just won't read our blogs. At least, that's what I would do in their case. When I was waiting for my referral, I avoided certain blogs off and on until I was having a better day.
And humour heals, at least temporarily.
I'm surprised it took her that long to find the cat food... based on her penchant for sticks in her mouth at the beach... :)
A great story for much needed after thinking about what is going on. Your kind words for families around the world are sweet.
Very funny and cute!
That is soo funny! ya, at least it was a brand name like Purina!LOL
I am so sad for all the IA families as well, they are in my prayers.
teehee! that is SO funny, i could quite picture it. she is so adorable! love the pic.
uh, just wait until you find her eating the cat poop from the litter box....what? it could happen.
As always, she is an absolute doll and these little gems of posts and photos you do are helping to keep me going...it's true!
